If a student cancels an appointment via WCOnline 12 hours or more prior to their scheduled booking, no further action is required.
Upon noting a failure to cancel a Sim Lab appointment with a minimum 12 hour notice the Sim Lab (Experiential Learning Facilitator or Sim Lab Facilitator) will: disable the student’s account via WCOnline. All future reservations for the Sim Lab will also be cancelled.
The student will then automatically be notified via e-mail of the following:
The notification addressed to the student
The location of the missed appointment (i.e. Sim Lab, Room CB104)
The date and time of the missed appointment
The request to contact their relevant Instructor, to have their account privileges reinstated
Note: The email will contain the following notation in the subject line: “Account Disabled Notice (Student Name): Missed Appointment [1]”.
Upon receipt of the notification, the student will be responsible for contacting the relevant Instructor via email (Blackboard mail or Humber email) or in person, with an explanation of the reason for the missed appointment.
The Instructor will review the circumstances of the missed appointment with the student, and if they deem it appropriate, they will notify the Sim Lab that the student can have their booking privileges reinstated.
The Instructor will also notify the student of the suspension of privileges and related consequences upon missing a second Sim Lab booking.
Upon noting a 2nd failure to cancel a Sim Lab appointment with a minimum 12 hour notice the Sim Lab (Experiential Learning Facilitator or Sim Lab Facilitator) will: disable the student’s account via WCOnline. All future reservations for the Sim Lab will also be cancelled.
The student will automatically be notified via e-mail of the following:
The notification addressed to the student
The location of the missed appointment (i.e. Sim Lab, Room CB104)
The date and time of the missed appointment
Note: The email will contain the following notation in the subject line: “Account Disabled Notice (Student Name): Missed Appointment [2]”.
Additionally, the Sim Lab will immediately notify the relevant Instructor or Program Coordinator of the following:
The student’s full name and Humber student number
The time and dates of both the 1st and 2nd missed appointment
Notice of the student’s booking privileges suspension for the remainder of the semester for all Sim Lab appointments
The Instructor will contact the student with notice of the suspension and advise the student of the option of meeting with their Program Coordinator to discuss the circumstances.
If a student chooses to meet with the Program Coordinator at any point to discuss the circumstances of the missed appointments, the Coordinator will notify the Instructor and the Sim Lab team in the event that privileges are to be reinstated. In the event that Sim Lab privileges are not to be reinstated, the Program Coordinator should notify the student of the right to appeal the decision of the Associate Dean. This decision should be e-mailed to the student with a copy forwarded to the Associate Dean with an explanation of the suspension of privileges.
