Parent/Guardian Questions and Concerns

Is tech support available if a problem arises with the iPads and how quick is the turn around on getting the device back?

-There will be tech support available. However, should there be a problem that needs to have the iPad turned in to get repaired we will work to have it returned as quickly as possible. Depending on our numbers, we may be able to swap out iPads same day.

-Students are able to submit a tech support request on their or a classmate's iPad using the Common iPad issues Slide Show link.

Can scholars use their at home WiFi with the iPad?

-Absolutely! The data plan is just a support to ensure that scholars have access to class and their work whenever they need it. We want scholars to be able to stretch their learning beyond the four walls of the school building.

Do I need to turn in the Chromebook the used last year? Is the Chromebook usable for this program?

-Yes

How do I apply for my child to get one? When will the iPad/Tablet be sent to my student?

- As long as you and your Frost or Stuart scholar have completed the three forms then your scholar will be able to pick their iPad up.

Forms:

  1. Parent Digital Citizenship

  2. Student Digital Citizenship

  3. Device Agreement

If the iPad is damaged , how much will I be charged ?

-As long as it is accidental damage (and not repeated) then it is covered by the district.

-According to the student handbook: "If a student intentionally damages any iPad, their family will be held accountable for the full cost of replacement of $461 and the appropriate disciplinary measures will be enforced."

Is there anything, training or otherwise for special needs children?

-We will be working with ECE teachers in order to support scholars with special needs.

Next year will the students get the same iPad they used this year or will it be a different iPad?

-Our current plan has scholars receiving the same device, charger and cord that they turned in this year.

What if my child still has his Chromebook from last school year?

-Please return the Chromebook that they were using.

Will I be responsible for the cost of a lost or stolen device if it occurs while my child is at school?

  • This will be dealt with on a case by case situation.

  • Repairs for accidental damage are covered by the district. Repeated breaks will result in payment for damages. All repairs are to be initiated by the district, not the parent /guardian of the student.

  • If your scholar intentionally damages the device, then you will be responsible for the replacement price.

    1. Administration will investigate all cases of damage to ensure that we are not charging scholars for accidental or unavoidable damage by them.

Will the scholars carry the iPads over with them to high school for those who are in 8th grade this year?

-No. Currently the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program is only at the middle school level and in specific schools in the district.
