INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING
Weekly 1st-Year Teacher Cohort
All first year teachers are required to attend a weekly cohort meeting where they will receive just in time training on school-based and district-based initiatives and systems.
Weekly Feedback (APs)
Administrators will give feedback weekly to teachers using the Rutherford 30 second feedback model. Feedback will alternate between teachers in PLCs that they supervise and their grade level zone they are responsible for evaluating. Feedback will be provided within 24 hour working hours of observation. (Turnaround Plan - SIF Allocation)
Bi-Weekly Feedback (Coaches)
The staff will be assigned teachers for their coaching caseload. Teachers on their caseload will receive 30-second feedback every two weeks.
Monthly 2nd -Year Teacher Cohort
All second year teachers and teachers new to JCPS are required to attend a monthly cohort meeting where they will receive additional support around school-based and district-based initiatives and systems.
Monthly Math Coaching/Feedback FY20-22
Monthly lesson plan coaching with Leslie Texas, LLC. Leslie Texas, LLC will provide consultant work for one week a month. During that time every math teacher will meet proactively to enhance the rigor of a lesson and then the teacher will receive individualized feedback from the math consultant to improve instructional practice. Feedback will be grounded in the math practices. (Turnaround Plan - SIF Allocation)
Instructional Coaching
Instructional Coaches will meet with teachers based on the following coaching plan.
Low Support: Monthly (Tenured Teachers)
Medium Support: Bi-Weekly (All 2nd Year - 4th Year Teachers; New to JCPS)
Intensive Support/1st Year Teachers: Weekly Coaching Meetings
Quarterly Data Conversations:
PLC Administrative Lead will hold individual data-based conversations around lesson plans, UBD plans, CFA data, writing benchmark data, and MAP data. (Evaluation - Domains 1 and 4)
Teacher Evaluations
Teachers will receive evaluations per the JCPS Certified Evaluation Plan. Evaluations on our campus are not a gotcha system or about compliance, it is part of our continous improvement work on our campus.
Bi-Annual Professional Growth Plan Coaching
Every teacher and administrator will complete a professional growth plan. A growth plan coaching conversation will occur in August-Mid September and will occur in January as part of the evaluation system.
Teachers and administrators will have to submit a final growth plan reflection that may be referenced during their summative evaluation conference.
WALKTHROUGHS
Weekly
Non-Negotiable Checks
The Assistant Principals will conduct weekly Non-Negotiables Checks. They will alternate between PLCs they supervise and grade level/zone they supervise.
Monthly
ELEOT
Teachers will receive an ELEOT 2.0 observation from a member of the Instructional Coaching Team
Teachers will receive their individual ratings with 24 working hours of walkthrough being completed coupled with a coaching conversation. The possible types of coaching conversations that could be used after a walkthrough is a craft conversation, talent development coaching, key lesson planning, team coaching, and teaching studies.
A walkthrough will be provided to every teacher within the first two weeks of a month and the last two of a month.
The Data Management Technician will publish walkthrough data from the previous month on the first Friday of each month.
TIM-O
Every teacher will receive a TIM-O walkthrough by their Verizon Innovative Learning Coach. The TIM-O is a digital tool to help describe technology use within a lesson in terms of teaching and learning. The TIM is based on the idea that good teaching and engaged learning should drive technology use in the classroom, not the other way around. The TIM-O walk-throughs will occur monthly and feedback will be provided within 24 working hours. Teachers will receive 30-second feedback for each classroom visit and the Verizon Innovative Learning Coach is available by appointment for additional coaching.
KMIT (Math Only)
The district BIT Mathematics team will implement KMIT Walkthroughs that are grounded in the Math Practices. (District Technical Assistance)
