Transdermal Delivery

Transdermal Delivery (경피전달 연구)

Many proteins possess potential and biospecific activity that could be applied for pharmaceutical drugs or therapeutic agents. However, the use of such medical proteins is impeded by limitations in safe and efficient protein delivery. Transduction of proteins into cells is highly limited due to their larger size and the poor permeability of plasma membrane.

On the aim of protein delivery into cells and skin, we have prepared the molecular transporter that can carry the cargo based on noncovalent association. The positively-charged guanidiniums in the drug delivery vector interacts with the negatively-charged surface of a protein to generate an ionic complex. We are also studying the efficient transdermal delivery of other proteins and small molecular drugs that can be helpful for disease treatment.
