Port Sunlight River Park
The Friends of Port Sunlight River Park
The Friends formed as the park opened and help fundraise and run many various activities in the park.
The group was instrumental in developing the park and spreading the word.
They also undertook a lottery funded project to record local peoples memories of the association with the park, Bromborough Dock, local industries and the River Mersey.
As the Park reached its 10th year, various events meant the decision was taken to close the Friends group.
The River Park continues to develop and has an active volunteer group who work with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) who now manage the site.
The Friends gathered lots of information on the park & the local area and have produced lots of information, that it would be a shame to loose.
I produced the Refuse to Recreation website (Google Sites)
https://sites.google.com/view/portsunlightriverpark-history
and I also took over looking after the original website, based on wordpress.Â
The WordPress site is very hard to maintain and I feel the look it produces is not very good.
So I have decided to create my own site to keep up to date with Port Sunlight River Park.
Although I am unsure what to call it.
Its not the official website of the Park and neither is it "The Friends"
So for now its "A friend of Port Sunlight River Park"
