The Friends of the North Park Library fund events such as Signing Storytime.  

 How to Join

Would you like to join The Friends of The North Park Library? We would love to have you on the team! Membership in the Friends of the San Diego Public Library is open to anyone interested in supporting the purpose of the organization.

The membership year is January 1 to December 31. If you join between October 1 and December 31, your membership extends until December 31 of the next year.

If you are joining through the website, we ask that you email Membership Chair Steve Schmal along with submitting your membership fees via Venmo as described below.

Membership Application

Download and print the application PDF, fill it out, and return it to a staff member at the library with the appropriate fees included (or paid via Venmo as described below). 

No printer? No problem! 

Just ask a library staff member for a Friends of the Library application!

Membership Fees

Membership fees may be paid using cash, check, or Venmo. If using cash or check, please submit the payment with your application at the North Park Library front desk. If using Venmo, please send the appropriate fee to James Ferguson (@FriendsOfNorthParkLibrary), FONPL's Chapter President. 

New Member Swag

New members are entitled to a pack of 3 stickers! If you become a member by submitting your application and fees in person at the library, be sure to ask your librarian for your sticker pack. If submitting remotely, be sure to email Membership Chair Steve Schmal to ensure you receive your swag. 

If you want stickers but don't want to become a member, sticker packs are $5. 

Friends Make a Difference

Funds generated by the Friends of the North Park Library, through memberships and book sales, allow the library to offer a variety of live entertainment programs as well as Play Kits that parents and kiddos can grab on the go. Play Kits have activities for a range of ages and are offered on a first come, first served basis. The North Park Library is currently the only library in San Diego to offer Play Kits.
