Church History

Friendship Baptist Church was begun in May 1965 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Durst. In June 1965, a 16 foot by 33 foot army squad tent was purchased for $45.00. Sunday school and Sunday worship services were held in this tent until June 1967. This is a picture of the pastor and his son Todd, who is about a year old. In the background is the tent. The neighbors chickens would often lay eggs in the sawdust floor that we had of the tent.

In 1966, a live Sunday Morning broadcast was started on WGUS. This broadcast was from 9:30 AM to 9:45 AM. This continued until 1976.
