Who We Are:
We are an enthusiastic and hardworking volunteer group working to support the Beekman Library. We play a very important role in raising money for the Beekman Library through book sales, raffles, signing up Friends membership, and other fundraising events. Community and library patrons benefit from Friends since the monies raised help pay for important library services and programs including the online and print newsletter, Museum Passes, Wi-Fi for hotspots, children, and teen programs.
Volunteer Role:
We are looking for an organized, energetic, individual to work on various activities for the Friends. As a volunteer you will contribute to the all-important work of the library which strives to contribute to a sense of community connection and identity through access to materials, services and programs that foster lifelong learning, enrichment, community collaboration, civic engagement, and dialogue.
Responsibilities:
Volunteer at Saturday book sales (once a month).
Attend monthly meetings if possible (first Monday of every month).
Expanding Friends Members and work on campaigns - willingness to work in the community and library at various events for the membership committee.
Participate in other fundraising activities such as the Vendor Craft Fair (May) and Holiday Cookie Sale (December).
Requirements:
Basic knowledge of Word and Excel programs preferred.
Familiarity with Facebook helpful.
You will sign up as a Friend for an annual membership fee of $10.00. Volunteers receive a discount of 50% on all book, DVD and CD purchases.
Total hours: 10 to 15 hours a month, depending on events.
