Advocacy

We strongly believe in the importance of the library in the community. As Friends, we help lend a voice to their purpose especially in matters of legislative initiatives and budgets in the State of New York. The New York Library Association, of which we are Friends Members, works tirelessly urging lawmakers to fund New York libraries, protect access to library materials and and follow important emerging literary initiatives.

In 2024 we provided financial support for the Mid-Hudson Library System Advocacy bus that will carry our local champions to Albany for the start of the New York Legislators session.

We also acted by contacting the Governor via email and social media to increase the budget to fund our libraries.
