The Friends of Cedarbrook & Thomson Memorial Parks invite you to join us on our Bat Monitoring Walks in the 2025 season through Cedarbrook Park.
We do these walks to enjoy the experience of the park after dark, and to gather data for the Toronto Zoo’s Native Bat Conservation Program. We use special devices to listen for bat sounds. Further information on these detectors and bat species in our parks is presented here.
Each walk takes about 1 ½ hours. Meet at sunset (see times in schedule below) in the Cedarbrook Community Centre parking lot, 91 Eastpark Boulevard, in Scarborough near Markham Road, south of Lawrence Ave – or about 10 minutes later at the Banmoor Boulevard park entrance.
The 2025 series of batwalks is now complete. This is our 7th season of bat monitoring in our parks and we thank the Metro Toronto Zoo for their continuing support and encouragement.
The 2025 schedule of "Batwalks" has been prepared and is posted below.
Our final two batwalks for 2025 were held in August in conjunction with the Toronto Celebration of Bats 2025
