Friend Request

Laura is popular college student with over 800 friends on Facebook. One day she recieves a friend request from a classmate, Marina who is a social outcast. After Marina becomes obsessive towards Laura, Laura decides to unfriend her. Marina takes her life becasue of this. A video appears on Laura's timeline of Marina killing herself and all of Lauras friends are appalled and begin to unfriend her. Laura's friends begin to receive friend requests from Marina and die soon after. Videos of these deaths are posted on Lauras timeline and she soon loses all of her friends. Laura is unable to take these videos down.

Friend Request is a horror movie for the digital age. The technology used serves more as prop to convey horror, than for its computing capability. It attempts to use more relateable scenarios like accepting a friend request on a social media application to start the movie and to later move the movie along. Once a friend request is recieved it foreshadows the death of that character. By using a relatable topic like a friend request, it highlights the potential danger that could come from it. Although in this case a demon was in control, there is real danger online.
