Fridge to Fork is a kitchen inventory and recipe app made by Nolan Mayoss. The short version: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking, and your kitchen data stays on your device and in your own iCloud. Scan photos are analyzed and discarded immediately. They're never stored.
WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE AND IN YOUR ICLOUD
Your pantry, expiration estimates, recipes, favorites, cooking history, preferences (including diet and allergies), shopping list, budget and savings stats are stored on your iPhone and synced through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We cannot see this data. If you share your kitchen, the people you invite through iCloud can see and edit your pantry and shopping list.
WHAT IS SENT TO OUR SERVER
Some features need our server, which runs on Cloudflare. It processes requests and does not keep their content.
Scans: when you scan, still frames from your camera are sent to our server and analyzed by Anthropic's Claude AI to identify food items. Frames are processed in memory and discarded as soon as the result is returned. They are never stored or logged, by us or on your device.
Recipe suggestions: to write recipes, we send a summary of your ingredients, your diet and allergy settings, cooking preferences and recently cooked recipe titles. This is processed to generate recipes and is not stored.
Voice and typed items: text you dictate (transcribed on your device) or type is sent to turn it into pantry items.
Receipts: receipt text is read on your device. Only the text is sent to identify items and prices. The receipt image never leaves your phone.
Barcodes: barcode numbers are looked up in the public Open Food Facts database through our server.
Recipe photos: recipe images are generated from recipe titles only and contain no personal information.
Anthropic processes this data on our behalf under its commercial terms, which do not permit it to be used to train Anthropic's models.
ANONYMOUS IDENTIFIER
To enforce the free plan's weekly scan limit and protect the server from abuse, the app creates a random identifier and uses Apple's App Attest. The identifier is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or any other identity, and it is used for nothing else. The server keeps only usage counts for it, plus anonymous daily totals of how much the service is used.
PURCHASES
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. To unlock Pro features, the app sends Apple's signed proof of your subscription to our server for verification. We never receive your payment information.
LOCATION, CAMERA, MICROPHONE AND REMINDERS
Camera access is used only for scanning. Speech recognition runs on your device when you add items by voice. Location is used on your device only to find nearby grocery stores in Apple Maps and is never sent to our server. Reminders access is used only when you choose to send your shopping list to Apple Reminders.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
We do not sell or share your data, show ads, or use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. The app does not track you across other apps or websites.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Anthropic (AI analysis and recipe generation), Cloudflare (server hosting and image generation), Apple (iCloud sync, purchases and maps) and Open Food Facts (barcode lookups).
DELETING YOUR DATA
Delete the app to remove its data from your iPhone. To remove synced data, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage. The anonymous usage counts on our server expire on their own.
CHILDREN
Fridge to Fork is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
