Hmmm.
Five fields...
That's what I started out with:
SEO "Expert" / Website "Development (I'm still trying to figure out what that means.) / Video Editor / Proofreader-Editor / Social Media Manager (That one was a lark.)
And Fiverr. - I was going to start with Fiverr.
Fiverr's assessment process took care of that.
Website development turned into WordPress development.
And, no, I still don't know what that means; but the important bit is that there's a cost attacked to this one.
I'll be damned if I don't exhaust every free option before turning to this.
.....
The thing of it is... if there's a cost to enhancing your skills...
The competition's already fierce.
WHY would I put myself at such a disadvantage?
.....
Of course, the other part to this is... if I'm not able to make a go out of the other options... what are the odds of me being successful with this one?
Holy cow...
I really never took this one seriously... but damn, it only took looking at ONE experienced seller on Fiverr to realize how beyond me this was.
My best work would actually be my first few gigs, and that's just because I'm such a relentless nag, especially to myself...
You might think being highly critical would be essential with this type of work; but, frankly, I think I'd have a stroke.
I can manage being miserable all on my own.
I see no need to work so hard at it.
.....
Yeah, I thought it was a lark...but there's actually quite a lot involved.
.....
The great thing about it is that if your organized, and you have any personal standards whatsoever, you will get better.
And if you've got a healthy ego, you'll get quite good.
This one's becoming YouTube editor; and yes, I am hoping to be able to do this without any additional cost.
I'll figure it out next week.
.....
Read their "Best Practices" page yesterday.
.....
Near the bottom of the page, they get into promoting yourself...
With paid ads.
.....
If anyone's seen any of my videos, you should already have a pretty good idea what I think about paid ads.
And this is for a platform I was only using to become familiar with freelancing.
Yeah.
Now that bit about paying to bid for jobs doesn't sound so bad.
At least your chances to actually land a job increases exponentially with that system.
So, ah... YEAH... I'm going to UpWork.
