UPDATE: 

As our July 18 Good Trouble Lives On event approaches, recent events have made our gathering even more meaningful.

In addition to honoring the extraordinary legacy of Congressman John Lewis, we will also come together in a peaceful community vigil to remember those who have recently lost their lives during immigration enforcement operations. We will take time to reflect, mourn with a bell ringing and reaffirm our shared commitment to the principles that John Lewis devoted his life to defending: human dignity, civil rights, equal justice, and the belief that every person deserves to be treated with compassion and respect.

John Lewis often reminded us that silence in the face of injustice is not an option. He encouraged each of us to make "good trouble" by speaking up for our neighbors, protecting fundamental rights, and working peacefully to build a more just and inclusive society. We hope you'll join us as we honor his legacy—not only with our words, but with our presence and our commitment to one another.

Please arrive a little early and take time to visit our new Community Connections Fair, where you'll meet local nonprofit organizations, discover volunteer opportunities, and learn about the many ways people are working every day to strengthen Southwest Florida. Together, we can honor the past, respond to the present, and continue building a future rooted in justice, compassion, and hope.

We look forward to standing with you on July 18.

We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
