SOME VIDEOS
(1) DAN HEATH videos: I use these videos to show students that there are specific techniques that we can use to change our behavior.
(2) Brain Game: This pair of videos was broadcast in 2002 and shows the latest brain research. This is "news you can use," I tell my students.
(3) Fischler pocket 4th edition: This book gives quotations for students and teachers. It was written by a former president of a university. It is free and I hope you will take time to read it. I like the commentaries that Dr. Fischler gives about the quotations. TINYURL.com/Fischlerebook
(4) PDF Blazek Project Based Learning: This PDF shows examples of projects. I use this document to inspire students to create their own.
(5) Let's Lecture Less: I compiled this PDF using quotations and a chapter by Mario Llorente to describe the power of lectures and the power of lecturing OUTSIDE the classroom.
I use this with (6) the video by Katie Gimbar "Why it has to be me" to inspire students to come to class "ready to discuss" the information for that day.
(7) the SAT MATH PDF: This document captures many of the math problems that most students will see before they leave school. If my students know about these problems, they will be prepared for many test days.
(8) PDF dan pink poster: These are the actual words taken from one of Dan Pink's books. I put this poster on the wall of my class and point to it at least once a week to capture the attention of my students.
(9) Rosenshine english principles of instruction: There are 17 principles in this list, which is published by UNESCO.
(10) TED talks text transcript: Ken Robinson, Dan Pink and Sugata Mitra are the three key presenters in this collection of the transcripts of their TED talks. The TED.com website shows many people who have focused on a good idea.
(11) ABC Dominos: I wrote this book with Mario Llorente. The book gives some math exercises and helps people see the math and probability inside a game. This is a valuable way of introducing math to children.
(12) PDF Lassie and poem with BLANKS: This poster is valuable for inspiring students to memorize a poem. I have three poems that I keep in my head and I rehearse them about twice a month while I wash my hands. "Courage comes from the soul within..." is a beautiful meditation about the power of the individual. I distribute this poem and I put the poster on the wall.
(13) Dryden Unlimited Preview: This PDF of 32 pages gives an exciting look at technology in the classroom.
(14) PDF Fischler CHANGE agent Poster: This poster is helpful for getting students to realize that they are not helpless. They are the force for change in themselves.
(15) Space Electricity: I heard about this idea from one of my school friends and I decided to share the idea with my students.
