The italicized quotes following each of the Circle of Scholar Graduates are the phrases that inspire them.
They choose these as a credo to continue to guide and sustain them in their future.
In light of the current state of the world, this year, the graduates were also asked:
"If you could create a time capsule today, what would you leave in it for future generations to find?
What advice do you have for yourself, or for others, in the future?"
Congratulations to Freedom Area School District's newest Circle of Scholars! Your hard work and dedication to yourself and your academics exemplify a Freedom Scholar. You are all destined for great things!

I would leave a picture of people shaking hands because that might be gone forever. The advice I would give is that nothing can beat hard work and dedication.

“If you're gonna get ahead in this world and be successful, you've got to be yourself." -My Dad
I would leave a pencil and journal for whoever finds it to write their thoughts and events from day to day. This is something I wish I had done so I could have memories to look back on and learn from. The only advice I have for my self is do not get to stressed out everything will workout. For others, I’d say you need to enjoy all the little things because time does not stop for anyone.

I would put pictures of my friends and family in a time capsule. The advice I would leave for myself and others is to always rely on the people close to you. Whether you're having the best day of your life or the worst day, your friends and family will always be there for you.

“Don’t let others define your success. You are in control of your journey.”
If I were to create a time capsule, I would leave all of the items that have led me to my accomplishments in it. I would leave a soccer ball, javelin, yearbook, newspaper, DECA manuals and all of the certificates and pins that I’ve received in hopes that when I open it in the future I am humbled and filled with joy knowing that I was the best version of me that I could have been. Advise that I have for other people is to always take pride in what you do because you are the one that controls your future.

If I could create a time capsule, I would put in pictures of my friends and family. I would want future generations to find this and realize that through thick and thin, the people who you love the most will help you and always be there for you. My advice for the future is that no matter how choppy the road looks ahead, everything is going to be fine and it’ll all be okay in the end.

If I could create a time capsule today, I would for sure leave some aspect of modern art in it. Most likely, that would include a flash drive of modern music, and the box set of all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies if the time capsule is big enough. This would allow future generations to compare the music and film of their time to what is being listened to viewed now. If I was leaving the time capsule for my future self, I'd definitely include $20 for me. That's what I did with one of my freshman year assignments where we had to write a letter to our senior selves. I can't wait to pick up that money in a little over a week from now.
If there's any advice I would give to my future self, it would definitely be to remember where I came from. Right now I have the eager attitude of a young man ready to explore the world. It would be unjust of me to forget the small district of Freedom where I come from. It's difficult for me to gauge what advice to give to future generations because, frankly, I do not know what the future is going to look like. I would most likely say something cliche that applies to humans more fundamentally. Perhaps something about being yourself, or caring for one another. Kind of like my time capsule was a massive, inedible fortune cookie.

“Be kind to one another” - Ellen DeGeneres
I would leave pictures of my friends and I in it. Advice I would give myself is to stop dwelling on the past and look forward to what’s ahead. I would leave the same advice to others, but I would also tell them to live positively and happy and they’ll be happy. I would also tell people not to sweat the small things. Life is more than one bad day.

I would leave a journal with all of my ideas, thoughts and feelings about my family, my friends and the world so that future generations can see a glimpse into what a life of a Freedom High School 2020 senior was like. My advice for my future self and others is to not worry about things. That things have a way of working themselves out and there is no reason to worry about them because everything will be alright.

I think I would put hope for the future in the time capsule because considering the state Earth is in I think they're going to need it. This advice is for me but can apply to others too have some confidence in your abilities there are things you're good at and you need to come to terms with that.

“This is how humans are: We question all our beliefs, except for the ones that we really believe in, and those we never think to question.” - Orson Scott Card
In the time capsule, I would put a copy of the book "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline because it is one of my favorite books I have ever read and I love all of the pop culture references and just overall how great of a story it is. Advice that I have for people in the future is that change doesn't always come by itself. You sometime have to the one who wants change and be the one who starts a reaction.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. - Frank Herbert, Dune
I would place an origami crane, a copy of the Shawnee Yearbook and an issue of the FHS Press, one of my bow ties, and a disposable camera. The advice I have for others is that your future is what you make of it. Work hard to achieve your goals. Do your best in everything and don’t be afraid to try something new.

“You must always have faith in people. And most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.” -Elle Woods
If I could create a time capsule today, I would leave a picture of my friends and I, pictures of my pets, one of my pap's handkerchiefs, a SD card with more pictures, $20 and a mirror. This would be because I want whoever to find this capsule to get to experience the sentimental value behind these items, a $20 pick-me-up and a mirror so the person can learn to love themselves. Some advice I have for others in the future is that do what not only makes you genuinely happy in life but the people you love around you happy as well. Also, you matter and you belong, and as hard as self-love can be, you are unique and beautiful and deserve to have that self-love.

If I could create a time capsule, I would leave a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because it is a reminder of the time when reading books was more common and it is a symbol of mine and my grandmother's shared pastime. The advice I would leave for anyone is to believe in yourself.

I would put a newspaper in the time capsule because in the future, there might not be a physical newspaper, it will all be online. For my future self, the advice I would give is to not worry so much. I worry about a lot of things, but I need to learn not to do that as much and to not let myself worry about the little things.

If I could create a time capsule, I would leave pictures of myself and my friends and how things were now, money so they can have a nice little surprise, and maybe some newspaper clippings of things going on right now, especially of the coronavirus pandemic. Advice I have for others is to be kind and helpful to everyone. You never know what someone is dealing with outside of where you see them and they may be going through some really difficult times.
