14th July 2019 - Coniston

The A walk, led by Christine, starts at Tom Gill to follow path, road and path to Low Tilberthwaite, then along the north side of Tilberthwaite Gill and up Steel Edge to Wetherlam. You follow the ridge to Swirl How and Great Carrs, dropping down to the col with Grey Friar to turn SE and contour round to the ridge and on to Coniston Old Man. The route leaves Coniston down the Old Man Breast to reach Walna Scar Road at Boo Tarn. The Road is followed to the car park to turn SSE then ENE on a bridleway to Bowmanstead where the disused railway track is followed to Coniston.

The B walk, led by Geoff, starts at Skelwith and goes via Little Langdale, Slater Bridge, Oxen Fell and Tarn Hows to Coniston.

The C walk, led by Gayle, is a circular from Coniston around Tarn Hows. Starting on the Cumbria Way the walk goes via High Water Head and Hill Felll Plantation to Tarn Hows. There is an optional but recommended 1.5 mile clockwise walk round the lake before returning via Hill Fell and High Hollin Bank to the lakeside path and back to Coniston.
