8th July 2018 - Keswick

The A is a really exciting ascent of Blencathra from Threlkeld. Christine plans to go up by way of Halls Fell if the conditions are good enough - otherwise via Doddick Fell. Whilst Halls Fell sounds like a grassy ridge it is in fact a rocky scramble. There are avoiding paths on either side of the ridge except for a couple of places where the ridge cannot be avoided, so not for the faint-hearted. After the pleasures of the ridge there is a gentle amble to Mungrisdale Common followed by a descent to the Cumbria Way. We then climb to the top of Lonscale fell via the wonderfully named Burnt Horse Ridge, dropping down again to the Cumbria Way before the final ascent of the day to Latrig and on to Keswick.
