11th Feb 2018 - Kirkby Lonsdale

The A walk is a 12.5 mile circular from Kirlby Lonsdale around Barbon Low Fell led by Chris Hall. It first heads NE to Cragg House Farm then N to Casterton, NE to Langthwaite and N again to Barbon. After crossing Barbon Beck the route heads E along Barbondale crossing back over Blindbeck Bridge then follows a bridleway SE to Bullpot Farm continuing S to cross over Leck Beck and follow it to cross Cowan Bridge and on to the A683 at Calacvm Roman Fort. The main road and then a footpath alongside the Lune head N back to Kirkby Lonsdale.

The B walk, led by Bryan Nicholson, starts at Devils Bridge, initially along the edge of the golf course on bridleways and lanes to the village of Casterton. It then head for Lowfields Wood, Beckfoot Farm and Hodge Bridge over farmland and along Barbon Beck to the village of Barbon. Leaving the village it heads over farmland to Whelprigg, Fellgarth and Langthwaite and then back along roads and bridlepaths to Devils Bridge. The walk is approximately 8.5 miles and bar the odd moderate hill climb can be described as undulating. The conditions are wet and gaiters could be useful.

The C walk, led by Noel, starts and finishes in Kirkby Lonsdale incorporating Ruskin's View, Devil's Bridge and part of the Lune Valley Ramble to and from Whittington. Virtually no ascent, some stiles alongside the River Lune which could be a bit muddy. Approximately 6 miles.
