12th March 2017 - Sedbergh

The A walk will be led by Roy and Dorothy. It is a circular walk 13.5 miles in length and lasting about 6.5 hours, starting and finishing in Sedbergh. From Sedbergh we head south to Millthrop and then across to Bank Cottage, up past High Hollins and on to Frostrow Fell, then via Hollbeck Gill up to Long Moor and on up to Aye Gill Pike. We then go back down towards Long Moor and on down to Barth Bridge via Lunds. The return to Sedbergh is along the Dales Way through Ellers, Brackensgill and Millthrop. Parts of the walk are quite boggy so good boots / gaitors are recommended.

The B walk of 9.5 miles will be led by Steve Ellis. The first part of the walk is uphill, skirting Winder towards Crook. From there we head West (mostly gently downhill) eventually joining up with the Dales Way. We follow this back to Sedbergh; spectacular view of the Lune Aqueduct.

Steve points out that if it is foggy as it was on the recce, the views will be non-existent rather than spectacular. Also parts of this route were quite claggy and muddy so good boots / gaiters are recommended.

The C walk, a 7 mile circular, will be led by Bill and Gerry. The route is Sedbergh - Ghyll Farm - Ellerthwaite - Straight Bridge - River Rawthey - Brigflatts - across fields to Birks – Sedbergh.
