11th June 2017 - Glenridding

The A walk, led by Pauline and Ken, is the classic round of Helvellyn via Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. The ascent is from Patterdale up Birkhouse Moor to the 'Hole-in-the-wall' and on to the summit. Depending on the weather conditions, Catstye Cam may be included before descending along Red Tarn Beck to Glenridding.

Approx 10 miles with 3000 feet of ascent.

The B walk, led by Brendan and Sharon, starts at Hartsop. The first mile is flat followed by a gradual climb to Boredale Hause then on to Boredale Head. Descend into Boredale and walk follows the length of this quiet valley to Garth Heads and on to Sandwick then takes the familiar track above Ullswater to Silver Crag, Side Farm, Patterdale to finish at Glenridding.

10 miles with about 1150 feet of ascent, stony tracks in parts. Moderately strenuous.

The C walk, led by Pam and Christine, starts in Patterdale and follows the bottom of the fells to the pretty village of Hartsop. Then it heads towards Brothers Water, continuing beyond the head of the water before turning right towards Hartsop Hall before following the other shore of Brothers Water. A permissive path goes through woodland at the edge of the road, then it's a little way down the road to Patterdale.

7.3 miles plus a mile back to Glenridding with no climbs but lovely views.
