14th Aug 2016 - Glenridding

‘A' party, led by Roy and Dorothy will start at Kirkstone pass and head up to Stony Cove Pike then a steep descent to Threshthwaite Mouth followed by a steep ascent up to Thornthwaite Crag. On to High Street and over to The Knott followed by a balcony path to Angle Tarn then down to Boredale Hause before descending into Patterdale. From Patterdale we head to Lanty's Tarn before finishing in Glenridding.

Note:- On the Recce the steep descent into Threshthwaite Mouth was quite slippery due to wet conditions; also if time is short on the day we will go directly from Patterdale to Glenridding.

Distance 12.5 miles, 3200 feet of ascent and 4250 feet of descent.

Due to the distance and the nature of the terrain at the start of the walk and time constraints this walk is for experienced A walkers only.

‘B' party, led by Ken and Pauline start at Deepdale Bridge to pick up the valley path to Crookabeck; Patterdale; then along Grizedale beck to Lanty's Tarn. They continue round Sheffield Pike via Lucy's Tongue and Seldom Seen to return to Glenridding by lakeside paths.

9 miles of undulating walking.

‘C' party will be led by Thelma and Kirsteen who have kindly stepped in at short notice. Details of this walk may be available later
