9th August 2015 - Kirkby Stephen

The A walk, led by Jim, starts at Gaisgill on the A865 and follows a northerly route over the fells to Kirkby Stephen. 14 miles with 1800' of ascent. (In blue on the Kirkby Stephen W & E jpg maps).

The B walk, led by Gerry(P) and Bill, sets out from Kirkby Stephen for Greenriggs, Smardale Fell, Ash Fell Edge, Tommy Road, Croop House, and follow the River Eden back into Kirkby Stephen. 10½ miles with approx. 600 feet of ascent.

The C walk, led by Kirsteen and Thelma, follows a circular route from Kirkby Stephen, leaving Frank’s Bridge, on to Hartley, then crossing both Merrygill and Podgill Viaducts. Taking the footpath to Nateby passing Wharton Hall, down to Bullgill and returning to Kirkby Stephen via footpaths. 6½ miles. Undulating. Not strenuous.

The coach will be in the coach park near the Cattle Market in the centre of Kirkby Stephen.
