Our Rambling Club runs trips on the 2nd Sunday of each month from January to November. Walks usually start around 10.30, often from a drop-off en route, and the coach parks where there are refreshments nearby, aiming to leave at 5.30 (earlier in the winter months). We try to be as informal and relaxed as possible whilst providing a safe and friendly environment for those who like to spend a day out in the countryside.
The coach fare is £15. Pickups are from the Wyre Hotel Poulton and run through Blackpool, St Annes, Lytham & Warton to Preston Riversway - see the Pickups page for details. Typical start and finish times (from Lytham) are 8.15am to 7.00pm and we usually have spare capacity on the G-line coach.
There are 4 levels of walk varying in distance, steepness and difficulty, typically:
A 10 to 12 miles with up to 3500ft of ascent
B 8 to 10 miles with up to 2500 ft of ascent
C 6 to 8 miles with up to 1500 ft of ascent
D 4 to 6 miles as flat as possible.
A, B & C routes are published in advance and will be led by experienced members. Regular D walkers will organise their short walk to suit conditions on the day. Members may also make up their own walk or take the opportunity to visit the area visited. Details of the next trip are on the link above and the Walks page lists the destinations for forthcoming trips.
If you are not experienced we suggest starting with a C then working up until you find your level.
