Places to Learn

Louisville Library Maker Space

The Louisville Public Library Makerspace is a creative space where people can collaborate on projects and share tools they may not be able to afford on their own. It’s a great place to meet people and share knowledge.

The Patchwork School (ages 1-18 years old)

The Patchwork School is an innovative non-profit organization promoting children’s rights and meaningful educational options for all, at the heart of which is a community-based democratic school for children ages one and up, located in Louisville, Colorado. By respecting children as people with ideas, interests and opinions, and by utilizing our community’s resources, we have created an experiential learning environment that fosters critical thinking and problem solving, develops communication and leadership abilities, nurture’s self-confidence and self-direction, promotes compassion and sustainability, and most of all preserves a passion for learning. Through the school, our parent education, teacher training, and community building, we advocate for freedom, responsibility and compassion in community.

We aim to service families who are home schooling or unschooling their children. We honor student choice and facilitate student-centered learning through play and exploration, constructivist teaching, collaborative course work and self-directed student initiatives. We support social and emotional development through conflict mediation, personal reflection, diversity awareness and community responsibility.

Worldmind Nature Immersion School provides a framework for engagement with nature so that our community’s children may thrive in a developmentally appropriate and experiential environment that honors the inner wisdom of childhood. We provide the foundation for intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth while nurturing creativity. We encourage a child led exploration of the natural world through ecological awareness in order to create a sustainable foundation for life.
