Made your size 8 girls dress as a gift for a young girl in Haiti with my eight year old. As a reminder and surprise gift I am making one of these out of the same fabrics for her American Girl dolls, not sure who will wear it, Kit or Kirstin. Thank you for sharing these patterns!

I have just discovered your free pattern for the American Girl Popover Sundress. Thank you very much. I will be making two of them for my granddaughters and would love to see additional patterns when they become available.

Suggested Fabrics: Self: Lightweight fabrics such as cotton voile or batiste, handkerchief linens, rayon and rayon blends, and silks. Avoid fabrics that are stiff or tightly woven, as this dress requires fabrics with drape.

Downloadable PDF Sewing Pattern for a sleeveless dress with scoop neck, flared seams, bust and waist darts, and side pockets. Center back invisible zipper. Instructions designed for handwoven fabrics. Available in 6 sizes. This pattern does not contain directions for sewing. Instructions, along with metric equivalents, are available for free from my website

It comes with quite clear instructions as well. When you order from this site you have the option to have seam allowances added as well. To make your custom dress form it is suggested to use sturdy fabric and iron-on interfacing on all pieces. I think that makes sure that it does not stretch in any direction.

Press seams open and clip where there are curves. To further reinforce the seam and flatten it they suggest a zig-zag top stitch. I love how well the pattern pieces create the bodice. Make sure to use a good thread. This is definitely much improved from a duct tape dress form.

Looks amazing. I am currently selecting fabric for my dress form, and love the canvas drop cloth idea! I have a few questions, did the canvas hold up? Was the interfacing required with such a heavy fabric? And what would you do differently?

Acclaimed designer and party dress doyen Giles Deacon offered up the pattern to his double duchess silk 'The Troubadour' dress from A/W 07 collection. The frock - which was modelled on the runway by Lara Stone - is part playful, part traditional, thanks to eighteenth century notes such as a regal square neckline and puff sleeves.

The dress is a lined sheath with armhole princess seams on the front bodice, darted skirt, darted back, and side invisible zipper. I recommend using sturdy interfacing for the back neck and the top of the back bodice for structure and reinforcement.

The pattern is quite basic (only 5 pieces!) and it includes seam allowances and hem allowance. However, it is otherwise fairly bare bones in terms of markings and I have not written instructions for it at this time, so I would not recommend it for a beginner. If you have some experience in assembling lined dresses, you should be able to handle it just fine.

The dress is sleeveless with a slight scoop neck, a-line skirt, and ruffle detail at the bodice front. It has an all-in-one bodice facing and back zip. I would rate this pattern as suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate sewer.

I know its 2012 but, Thank you so much for posting the coffee date dress pattern for free. Do you have the instructions of how you put together from the coffee date dress pattern to end up with the polka dot dress with the big bow in the front or do you have the pattern no.

hi

i love your audrey dress and wanted to know how i could make the bodice bigger (42) as i want to change the bottom to a flared skirt but love the idea of the top? is it a case of adding inches or is there a better way?

Selfish I LOVE YOU! I live vicariously through you. I am a mother of four and my cute size 0 vanished long ago. I worked in childrens design houses before I stayed home to be the mom, so that is where I am comfortable sewing all things small and cute. When I found you I thought, she is right I should sew for myself. While I was shopping at the Walmart the other day they had in the fabric section vintage voile in a fifties print pink with cream flowers that had black outlines. I could picture it sewn up as your sugar snow dress with faux pearls and black patten leather shoes. Tradgedy of tradgedy you have not posted the instuctions as promissed. I am hoping that you will do it soon or maybe I should really start woking out get in fighting shape just so that I can look as good as you do in all things fabulous that you make and than you can take your time getting it done. Now if you have posted let me know where to find it. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is a lovely dress. I so want to make it.

A question, in US I wear size 6 but when I looked up in Burda size chart I am close to 12!!!! Any suggestion for me?

And also if I want to print the pattern, does each page fit with A4 paper?

Thank you so much.

Hi Elaine, I love the coffee dress, but when I tried to make it in the largest size it was to small. Luckily I made the bodice out of old fabric to see if it would fit. Do you have any tips on making it bigger?

The fabric in the main part of the dress was something similar to a cotton terry but with a fuller weave, it feels like a sweatshirt but lighter. Sorry Im not good at identifying fabrics.

I love wearing it because it is so light, and If I had a signature look, it would be a sleeveless cowl/turtle neck.

Thanks for placing this pattern out there for us! It was a nice exercise for me to make it larger to fit me!

Because this dress has cutaway armholes, it's not as straightforward as adding on standard sleeves. The illustration below shows the Page Dress compared to where a standard armhole would sit (shown in red).

Place one sleeve in the corresponding armhole of the dress. Match up the underarms seams and the notch on the top of the sleeve head to the shoulder seam. Pin in place. Pin the lower part of the sleeve to the dress, up until you reach the notches/gathering stitch.

This is my most favorite summer dress: simple, chic, comfy, lovely. I have had students (at Purl Patchwork) of every shape and size make and wear this dress, it truly works on everybody. The bodice features super stretchy elasticized smocking, a trick anyone with a home-sewing machine and elastic thread (first thing to know: you put the elastic thread in your bobbin, NOT your needle thread!) can master. My instructions include a few pointers, and you can also find useful tips here. The skirt is nice and full and can be hemmed at a variety of lengths, and features two hidden on-seam pockets.

I am thrilled to offer the pattern for this fun little dress as a free download for a limited time, while my newest line of printed fabrics, Mendocino, makes it's debut. You will find that the buttery-soft Mendocino prints (as well as my West Hill Collection) will work perfectly for this style.
