Allocate and optimize resources for maximum efficiency with our server management software. Manage up to 70,000 virtual machines and 5,000 hosts across 15 vCenter instances. Use vSphere HA and DRS clusters to support up to 64 hosts and 8,000 virtual machines. Replicate roles, permissions, and licenses across the infrastructure so you can simultaneously log in, view, and search the inventories of all vCenter Servers. Link multiple vCenter Server Appliances and increase visibility without using costly load balancers.

vSphere Client Plug-ins from VMware partners allow IT admins to manage third-party elements in their data center directly from vCenter. Our server management software has the largest partner ecosystem in the industry, with our open vSphere Client Plug-in SDK. As a result, vCenter customers can implement back-up, data protection, server management, network management and security management, directly from vCenter.

VMware launched the vSphere Client Plug-in Certification Program in 2016 to ensure a better end-user experience for customers. Certified Plug-ins deliver optimal performance, better security model, client isolation against failures in one plug-in, and enhanced vCenter Server Appliance scalability. Customers will be able to distinguish certified vSphere Client Plug-ins because only certified Plug-ins will carry the "VMware-ready" logo.

I wanted to patch vcenter Server 7.03 and I have attached newest ISO. When going to appliance and update from CD ROM it always shows empty. So i have decided to try again to detach ISO file from vCenter server appliance VM but now it is welded to this machine and you cannot detach this cd if i try to do that all services of vcenter go down and then they come back in about 15 minutes

ANybody has explanation why detaching ISO file from vcenter virtual machine would cause machine to become unresponsive. I have never had this before and patched many servers but this one simply cannot be done

I already have a support case in with HPE support to address some questions, but feel I'm just getting some copy-and-paste responses without any real dialogue around my questions, so here I am to see what responses I get here. We currently have an HPE SimpliVity Federation (version 4.1.0) deployed under a vCenter 6.7 server. We need to migrate this to a new vCenter 7.0.2 server that we have stood up. The new vCenter Virtual Applicance is up and running and has the SimpliVity plug-in ready to go as well. I have seen the instructions on what is required to migrate, but had a few side questions first.

1. Is it possible to migrate to a new datacenter and cluster name on the new vCenter server? I gather from some other things that I have dug up that these both need to be named the exact same on the new vCenter server due to how engrained these are at low levels in an HPE Federation. If so, is there no way to use a new naming convention for our vCenter datacenter and cluster that is housing SimpliVity without a full re-deploy of the nodes (ESXi hosts)?

2. Currently we log into the OmniStackVC VMs via SSH using active directory credentials from an active directory domain that we are retiring. Is there something we need to do with the OmniStackVC VMs to change to this new domain for authentication purposes? I know this question is possibly unrelated to the vCenter migration, but we're no longer authenticating the new vCenter server or anything against this old domain and need to get this handled at the same time so we can retire this old AD domain.

A) After successfully updating the vCenter server with the appropriate command as you indicated, will the new vCenter Server administrator@vsphere.local account be usable for logging into the OmniStackVC OVAs like it is under the current vCenter Server?

C) Do I first need to disconnect and remove the hosts from the old vCenter server before adding to the new? All instructions I have dug up seem to skip disconnecting and removing from the old vCenter Server, but I presume this is assumed to be required first, correct?

This question might sound a bit odd but here it goes:I'm writing a bunch of applications that connects to VMware vcenter api , now as i mainly code on my laptop i was wondering if there's some way to "mock" a vcenter server so i can connect to it from my code .This would avoid me having to connect to the VPN every time i need to test anything.

Now from this remote media agent, I am literally able to log into the vcenter using the service account. So this does not make any sense why every job is failing with the above error message. Does anyone know what I can check or do to help resolve this?

In an environment with firewalls, the vCenter, ESX servers, and Virtual Server Agent must be able to communicate with each other. To ensure that all components can communicate through the firewall, ensure that the ports for web services (default: 443) and TCP/IP (default: 902) are opened for bidirectional communication on each of these machines.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to link my current hypervisor VMware Vsphere (6.0) with my Citrix Studio (XenDesktop 7.7) during the site creation. And after loading few seconds, this error appears : "Cannot connect to vcenter server due to a certificate error"

I have already tried a lot of solutions proposed by the Citrix website as take the CA certificate of my vcenter and import it in "...Trusted certificates..." thanks to mmc.exe. I have also tried to download the certificate (view certificate => copy to files => import it to Xendesktop machine) by connecting to the SSO web interface with IE. I put the CA certificate in Certificates(Local Computer) > "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" > Certificates . Both didn't work.

Help would be very appreciated.

Cannot connect to the vCenter server due to a certificate error. Make sure that the appropriate certificates are installed on the VCenter server, and install appropriate certificates on every controller in the site

But i have the right certificates in all the DCs and in the right stores and they are trusted. Got this info from Carl's blog post and checked the ( -controller-cr-and-licensing/#vcenter - Hosting Resources Section, Point no 9) Cert thumprint in DB, surprisingly i was missing the hosting connection entry, If i create a new host connection, it is written back to the database tables (Test Host connection also didn't through back any cert errors), but for the existing host connection entry was missing.

Set-Item : Cannot connect to the VCenter server due to a certificate error. Make sure that the appropriate certificates are installed on the VCenter server, and install the appropriate certificates on all machines that contain instances of the Host service.

Just to add key note, I was facing this issue intermittently and hence I have executed PowerShell command when I got the successful connection as earlier with command execution as well it was throwing the same error cannot connect to vCentre server.

I've used this thread a couple of times and each time there was the one thing I got stuck on, which was which certificate to use. To never forget it again, I made this blog about how to fix this issue. Hope you find it helpfull: -studio-cannot-connect-to-vcenter-server-due-to-certificate-error/

I have a situation where just one of my controllers does not accept the vcenter cert. I have replicated the certificate installs but can't get one controller to play nice. Not sure what I am missing. When i run set-item on the ddc, I get an error "the supplied credentials for the connection are not valid" I am running powershell directly on the controller.

We just installed a new SRT5kRMXLT UPS. We have 5 ESXi servers connected to the unit. I installed PowerChute 4.1 Network Shutdown VM to manage shutting down the VM's, and then the ESXi host as well. During the configuration of PowerChute I get this error message: "PowerChute cannot locate the vCenter Server VM in the Inventory.". It is true that I did select 4 servers during configuration of PowerChute, none of these servers are hosting the vCenter VM. The server running vCenter is not listed in our Data Store as a host. Incidentally, the same server running vCenter VM is also running PowerChute VM. Is this a requirement of PowerChute to have all servers listed in the Data Store? I would think PowerChute would contact vCenter by IP. We also do not use a domain in our environment. I have not upgraded the ESXi host running vCenter to version 6.0 just yet but vCenter at version 6.0.

in the above example vCenter server is running on host luna.scvmmgal.net and PCNS is running on sol.scvmmgal.net If vmware tools are not installed on vCenter Server the host running it will not be signified with the VMware icon.

If the certificate on the vCenter server is changed or upgraded, the same certificate along with any associated root and intermediate certificates must be installed on all the delivery controllers and the XenDesktop database must be updated with the new thumbprint of the new certificate.

VMware vCenter Server performs a number of tasks, including resource provisioning and allocation, performance monitoring, workflow automation and user privilege management. It enables a vSphere administrator to manage multiple ESX and ESXi servers and virtual machines (VMs) through a single console. 0852c4b9a8
