The Philadelphia Student Mediamaker Fund is administered by Scribe Video Center. Evaluation of proposals and selection of grant recipients is made collectively by members of media arts organizations, individual members of the independent film and digital media community, and local colleges and universities in the Philadelphia area who are involved in media making, educating and supporting local artists.

Scribe Video Center and members of the Philadelphia Student Mediamaker Fund assemble a rotating panel of local indie filmmakers and representatives from colleges and universities, and non-profit independent media organizations to review all written and audio/visual application materials.

Work Sample - A sample of the student's past work that best represents their abilities. We will accept links to past media projects, stills, drawings or narrative scripts. We will also review work samples (including outlines, scripts, research footage) from the proposed project.

Undergraduate students and makers affiliated with a regional media making institution will receive payment of 80% of the grant award (ex. $400 of a $500 award) upon return of their co-signed grant award letter. The balance will be paid upon completion of the reporting requirements.

To create installation media, go to the software download website, where you'll find step-by-step instructions. On that website, you can select a version of Windows and create your own installation media using either a USB flash drive or a DVD. To go directly to one of the versions, select one of these links:

A USB flash drive, external hard drive, or DVD. A blank USB flash drive or external hard drive with at least 8 GB of space, or a blank DVD (and DVD burner). We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD because any content on it will be deleted. When burning a DVD from an ISO file, if you're told the disc image file is too large, you'll need to use dual layer (DL) DVD media.

The grants include support to both interactive and feature documentary projects through the Sundance Documentary Fund's New Frontier and Native Programs; enable black filmmakers to experiment with non-linear digital storytelling through Black Public Media's 360 Incubator + Lab; provide a new stream of grant funds specifically for filmmakers in the U.S. South through the Southern Documentary Fund; and equip social movements with nonfiction short films created by filmmakers representing and accountable to affected communities through the Docs in Action project at Working Films.

"Together, these seven organizations deepen the pool of people who tell the nation's stories through documentary, including new media storytelling platforms, formats, and technologies," said Kathy Im, Director of Journalism and Media at MacArthur.

These organizations join eight other nonfiction multimedia storytelling institutions already supported by MacArthur, including Firelight Media, American Documentary, ITVS, Kartemquin, Tribeca, AIR, Chicken & Egg, and the recently launched IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund. Over the last two years, the Foundation has been steadily growing its investment in the documentary community through new partnerships with organizations that can provide comprehensive support to a growing number of filmmakers and new media artists.

MacArthur's Journalism and Media Program works to strengthen American democracy by informing, engaging, and activating Americans through deep investments in independent journalism and media. In addition to support for nonfiction multimedia storytelling, the program also funds professional nonprofit reporting on critical and under-reported areas disseminated in imaginative ways, as well as participatory civic media that enables individuals and groups to express and organize themselves for social change.

An updated version, Windows Live Movie Maker 2011, was released on August 17, 2010, adding features such as webcam capture, support for high-definition video, the ability to upload videos directly to SkyDrive, Facebook, and YouTube through their respective web APIs, and the ability to add media files stored on network shares to projects.[12]

The discontinuation of Windows Movie Maker has led to the appearance of scams abusing its name. In late 2016, a few months before the discontinuation of the Windows Essentials suite (including Movie Maker), a website named windows-movie-maker.org (no longer accessible) which offered a tampered version of Windows Movie Maker, appeared as one of the top results when searching for "Movie Maker" and "Windows Movie Maker" on Google and Bing, a scam only widely recognized as such in 2017.[30] It was identical to the real Windows Movie Maker, however, unlike the official and free Windows Movie Maker by Microsoft, it would not let users save a video without purchasing. Upon installing and executing the program, the user was greeted with a dialogue box explaining that it was a trial and a purchase was required. ESET also detected malware called Win32/Hoax.MovieMaker in the above-mentioned version. The fake will also restrict the installation of the WLE (Windows Live Essentials) Movie Maker by modifying the Windows registry.[31] 0852c4b9a8
