I am working on Perspective module, 8.0.1(but I am going to be updating it to 8.0.2 today). I would like to play an alarm sound when there is an unacknowledged alarm. I have been researching this, but this scripting environment is all new to me and very greek. I am really hoping someone can give me a simple way of doing this start to finish.

One problem I am encountering is how this is going to work across platforms. I have looked into the system.util.playSoundClip but from everything I read so far I am not sure how that will work with different devices. I would like to have the alarm play whether someone is on a desktop pc, an android tablet, or an iPhone.

Is this doable? Seems it should be since the program is represented to be used for SCADA systems. I would assume most people with these systems would want audible alarms for the times that someone is not sitting directly in front of a screen.

This assumes the sound is less than five seconds long and that you have a tag that increments by one each second and resets to zero when it reaches the number of seconds you'd like for the repeat rate.

Thanks. I am not sure that will work for me though. I just want it to activate when there is any alarm that is not acknowledged. Seems that would be easier than binding it to each and every tag that has an alarm?

On another note, a guy I work with brought up the idea that if we use an external sound source then we would not get an audible alarm. So I started up the Microsoft IIS web server and put the sound file on it. Now, we can loose outside internet at our facility but still have an audible alarm.

I want to use my new nest mini as an alarm in the morning. I have a really brutal alarm clock at the moment so I would like an equally brutal alarm ring - but the one the nest mini seems to use is really gentle and frankly a bit pants. I could easily sleep through that!

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to check in and see if you are still in need of any help changing the alarm sound on your device? Please let me know if the article sent above helped, or if you are still having issues. I would be happy to take a closer look.

 Best regards,

We are trying to have a program produce an alarm noise whenever the value of the force read from a pressure sensor exceeds a certain threshold. We have a bridge setup going through USB to the computer. The program works fine and displays a force anywhere from 0-4 Newtons, depending on how much pressure is placed on the instrument. I tried wiring the numerical indicator into a case structure which has '3..', with a play waveform chunk inside the case structure. It seems that this works except that when it gets above the threshold, it doesn't stop playing. It gets stuck in the case and won't read any new values from the instrument. Its most likely a simple fix, I just don't have enough experience with labVIEW to know what the problem would be. Any help would be much appreciated!

After looking in more detail at your code I'm seeing 3 embedded loops all with boolean switches to stop them. Your logic seems a bit convoluted if you're trying to do what I think you are. Why not change the audio part into a simple boolean indicator for now and see if you can get that switching correctly before you add the wave file alarm.

Okay, I played around with booleans and without the sound file and loop I can get the indicator to show "true" if over 3 and "false" otherwise. I guess the discrepancy comes with my misunderstanding of case structures. How do I get the sound to only play when true?

The alarm and ringer volume is only independent of the side volume buttons when in Settings > Sounds & Haptic the "Change with Buttons" option is turned OFF. Make sure this is turned off, and then adjust the volume to maximum with the slider above. Then do a forced re-start:

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to hear an alarm sound on your iPad, even after doing some good troubleshooting. At this point, we would like you to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

You need to go into the app, go to security, pick home/away, click the cog and then uncheck camera alarm, that will stop the alarm going off.Screenshot_2022-07-10-14-15-04-44_ff785028b59b747d09873fc0674450df14403216 314 KB

Another user ID: hareza on 02/14/2023, asked a similar question and was answered that whatever sound she last set will be the default for the next time until she changes it. Not with my iPhone 12. When exploring my iPhone12 I came to a screen that offered me to change my default sound to whatever I want and foolishly

I'm having the IDENTICAL problem since the most recent update. I ALWAYS had a certain tone for my clock alarms. Every thread I've checked has NOT had a correct way to change the default. It shows a certain tone with (DEFAULT) beside it. No way to change it there. Created a new alarm, changed the tone to what I wanted and THAT tone worked. Added another alarm and it kept the **** default sound. I CAN NOT FIND WHERE THE **** WE CHANGE THE DEFAULT ALARM TONE!!!!

So after an update, if the phone is not "logged in to" any alarm that goes off will use the "home coming" alarm sound. I hate it. I want my normal alarm sound to play in this scenario. I don't understand why the phone only has access to this one single alarm sound and none of the other alarm sounds. Is it really necessary that all alarm sound files be walled off from a non-authenticated session?

Most people are saying to use a 3rd party file manager to browse to the alarm sound in the file system which is like /system/media/audio/ringtones/galaxy/file.ogg or something close to that. Then open the file with XYZ player and then tell the player to set it as the default alarm sound.

90% of file managers I have tried cant even access this folder. The few I found that can make you sit through a 10 minute ad video every time you click something, but when I finally get to the file, every single player I have tried to open it with does not have the option to "set it as the default alarm" -- or any default sound for that matter.

Unfortunately, while I get a notification, the app accompanies the notification with an obnoxious beeping alarm sound. In addition, the volume of the music I am playing through Firefox decreases when this alarm plays, and increases afterwards. I would like to turn off the sound. Here's what I've tried:

I've tried turning off the sound for that specific app (I'm playing music, so I can't turn the sound off completely), using the app titled "volume mixer". Unfortunately, there is no dedicated volume control for the alarm app. I've tried turning down the "system sounds" volume control, and this has no effect.

I've tried changing the settings of the app, but as far as I can tell the app has no settings page, and no way to turn off the volume for the timer. (There is a way to turn off the sound for the alarm clock).

I realize this is an old post, but I was able to mute alarms by going to Windows Settings, then System, then to Notifications & actions. From here, scroll down and click om "Alarms & Clock" - in this box, you can disable alarm sounds

One thing slightly lacking: an audible snooze because you need to have "Show Message" checked on Free Alarm Clock for snooze - I get the silent snooze message from Alarms & Clock -- this still works for me because if I snooze an alarm I am generally at my computer then and will see the silent snooze message.

Hi @MattHalley. I would try looking at this Help Center article here. This goes over the Alexa Guard Mode. Perhaps testing out Guard Mode for the Alexa could give you the desired result. Be sure to go into Self Monitoring while testing any new setups with the Ring Alarm to avoid any false alarms. You can switch to back Professional Monitoring at any time. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the lead, but Alexa Guard does not not support this function. Is there a Ring device that extends the sound of the siren into a room other then that where the alarm is plugged in? I.e Our alarm is set up in the den. We need to hear the siren in the bedroom. Thank you.

Hi @MattHalley. Sorry about that! The Ring Alarm Keypad and the Dome Siren can both be enabled to sound a siren in the event your Ring Alarm is triggered. I personally have a extra Keypad in my bedroom because it not only plays sounds, but I can easily arm/disarm if needed. I Hope this helps!

Your Sound the Alarm event will be a fun day of preparing families against home fires and making your community safer. Together, we will canvass neighborhoods, knock on doors, check smoke alarms in homes and replace if necessary, educate families about home fire safety, build evacuation plans with them and document our services.

You'll meet your installation team members (if you don't already know them) and receive supplies such as smoke alarms, a drill, educational materials, and a map of your route for the day. Then it's time to head out! e24fc04721
