Creativity, growth & restoration through words...
In a world that is quickly losing its focus on the very essence of what it means to be human, we skirt on the danger of losing the ability of seeing the humanity or humanness in each other. In Northern Ndebele and Zulu, we have a greeting: Sakubona and Sawubona respectively. This greeting is more than just a simple hello.
It means "I see you"... "Not just with my eyes, but the divine in me recognises the divine in you". Every time I think of that, I am often reminded of the beauty of what it can mean to be human. To exist among others who connect with one's soul, the indestructible within us. That which is carried by the body but transcends time as we know it. I think that is precious!
When we take a moment to gather and tell stories, each of us is like a flint with its own power to spark when struck by a story. In that moment, we are united and travelling in the story realm. It can be said that in those moments we can create a forest fire of new thought and individual creativity! All this while we inspire each other to bring our best selves into understanding the value we bring into this world by speaking inspiration that conjures change for the betterment of all who encounter this artform.

Having worked with people from various age groups and backgrounds, I am learning that we all have a desire to be understood. For our humanity and humanness to not be taken for granted or dismissed and discarded.
A lot of what keeps us going is the desire to keep dreaming and honouring our younger selves and respecting our current selves enough to leave a good principled world for posterity... a rewiring for goodness if you will!
A lot of what I do in my storytelling performance and workshops evokes a sense of wanting to do better, to be better and to want to seek healing for things we have thought couldn't be redeemed.
