Creativity, growth & restoration through words...
Storyteller | Actor | Poet | Performance Coach | Heritage Custodian
I work with words. They have healed me and cradled me through the toughest parts of drawing breath and exhaling.
They have also empowered me to breathe new life into places where doubt had choked it out.
We often think that we create stories. This may not be so accurate. Stories are like water vapour. They are around us all the time, and every now and then they condense enough for us to feel them. To capture them and share them... for a while even. But they have a life of their own that calls for them to ebb and flow through mind, heart, culture, generation, humanity.
Our job is to learn the art of listening to what a story wants.
A story will wait until we're ready. When we're ready, we'll know that it is ripe for the telling.
In all of this, we must find time for laughter. It is then that the child in us finds a window to play with our serious selves.
When we find room for laughter, we shovel out all the things that have buried our inner child. So laugh! Find humour in the mundane and laugh at your own absurdity when you find time for it.
The child in us knows how to pluck words and stories out of the atmosphere to allow us to create!
