I believe the basic message they want me to take away is become more aware of what is going on in the ocean environment. The overuse of carbon and gases are causing physical harm to our ocean, environment, as it's also showing in the ocean with the coral as they are changing color to protect them self from harm, but for some it might be too late as they are dying. I think it is incredible all the time and effort the scientists have made in the research, behind the coral. Also, a feeling of disappointment in that they cannot get all their answers on the first try. If we continue to overuse and the atmosphere and ocean it can cause permanent damage to the coral and other habitats around the world.
SLO 4
Our ocean hosts many small living organisms to large living organisms. Some of the organisms living in the ocean are fish, plankton, whales, coral, and more. This is where the majority of people get most of their food. We need a healthy ocean to be able to host healthy fish so we can be healthy humans. What impacted me during this lecture is that corals are being affected do to climate change and change in water temperature can cause the coral to stress out and causes the coral to turn white as a ghost. This is when the coral "lose algae" these algae live in coral tissue is what causes the coral to have pigmentation. When the pigmentation is gone the coral are more susceptible to dying or disease. I read in (floridakeys@noaa.gov.) that carbon dioxide is one of the biggest threats in the atmosphere and is causing climate change, which is creating a more acidic ocean. As our glaciers are melting due to climate change it's causing our seas to rise the temperature and salinity also change. All this is stressing out our planet and our ocean causing catastrophic change to our environment. This is very sad! I can't imagine our ocean without the color of reef.
This is when two plates move towards one another being destructive or creating beauty. these are the most common boundaries around earth. This pressure causes earthquakes, creates mountains, volcanos. Volcanos are often formed parallel to a convergent boundary.
SLO 1
This is the opposite of convergent boundary, the plates in this example are moving in the opposite direction from one another. Earthquakes are also common in these boundary's along with the earth's mantle sipping through the earth, as it hardens this creates new oceanic crust.
Transform plates is when two plates are moving in a sliding motion going past on another. This boundary extends under water. Earthquakes are also common in this boundary. The San Andreas fault is created by this transform boundary.
Atmospheric circulation is on a constant move, moves the air that moves the ocean that moves the windmills. The warm air moves up and the cool air moves down words. As I read in the (noaa) website the wind doesn't move in straight lines. It moves in a spiral motion "in the North hemisphere" the wind moves to the right and it's the opposite in the South hemisphere that would cause it to move left. i found it interesting this is the example that they use on the news to explain high and low pressure. I can't imagine our planet with wind at a standstill. It would cause all the pollution to stay in the section were its being created.
SLO 3
Tides are very strong that it can reshape land and rock formation which can create a beautiful view but in the same sense it can be catastrophic. The strength from the water waves and high currents is coming in strong that is causes the land to dissolve from underneath. The closer a tide is to a coast the stronger the tide, also a tide has a gravitational pull that is caused by the sun and the moon. This gravitational pull creates a high tide and a low tide.
