Details: Call PRIN 2022 No. 104 of February 2, 2022 of Italian Ministry of University and Research; Project 2022BMBW2A (subject area: PE - Physical Sciences and Engineering)
Description: The project develops advanced mathematical optimization models and algorithms for energy systems facing the challenges of sustainability and uncertainty. It addresses large-scale distribution and planning problems, with a particular focus on the integration of electric and hydrogen-powered mobility into energy systems, the management of Renewable Energy Communities, and the design of efficient solution methods for complex structured models. The research suitably combines application-driven modeling with the advancement of optimization methodologies, particularly under uncertainty and using decomposition strategies, thus ensuring scalability and practical impact.
Goals:
- Develop optimization models for the distribution and use of energy that integrate mobility, infrastructure, and storage decisions.
- Investigate advanced methods for uncertain energy problems.
- Design decomposition-based algorithms to handle the complex structure of energy system problems.
- Create decision-support tools for fair and efficient energy user aggregation, fleet management, and infrastructure planning.
- Develop reusable open-source modules for a unified optimization framework, enabling transferability of results across energy and other domains.
