St. Luke's Church

St. Luke's was built 1841-43 and is by Charles Parish for the fourth Earl Bathurst. It is a Neo-Norman conventicle church. The round-arched windows are Late Georgian style, recessed between pilaster buttresses. The church has, on its south-west corner, a picturesque Italianate-looking tower with paired Norman bell-openings, corbels, and sprocketed pyramidal roof. The spacious nave has a hammerbeam roof. There is a high chancel arc and a vaulted east apse. There is a large dodecagonal font. The stained glass in the church is original and the apse windows feature Christ and the Evangelists.
