First Grand Haven Christian Reformed Church embraced environmental projects over two decades ago. You can drop off metal to be recycled at the garage at 1118 Colfax Avenue, Grand Haven. You can also call us at 616-842-6370 to schedule a free pick up of your unwanted metal or electronics that cannot be delivered by car. Our boundaries are: north: Pontaluna Road, south: Lake Michigan Drive, east: M231 until it meets Interstate 96, and west: Lake Michigan.

Love in Action Grand haven accepts donations for its resale store. Donated Items go first to those in need, otherwise are sold in the retail store. For more information see their Upscale Retail web page.
The City of Grand Haven has an alternative to home composting for food waste, grass clippings, and similar materials. For over a year now, the City has been operating a composting facility on Harbor Island where residents can take organic waste, let it decay, and eventually turn into usable soil, which becomes available for the taking. The facility is located in the fenced DPW space just north of the Third Street Bridge. Check it out!
Materials accepted include yard waste, leaves, grass clippings. No branches over 2 1/2 inch diameter are allowed. Brush must be tied in bundles with a maximum length of 4 ft. Plastic bags cannot be left at the site, but 2 ply paper bags are ok.
Ottawa County offers residential and small business composting programs. Food waste
drop-off locations are located at all Environmental Sustainability Centers. The one in Grand Haven is at 16850 Comstock Ave. Food waste must be left in compostable bags which are available at the Sustainability Center.
