The Bible is God's Word written for us, so spending time reading the Bible is important for every Christian. Ideally, we'd all read the Bible daily, but it can be hard to make the time (that's why it's a spiritual discipline! sometimes we have to work to develop good habits). Devotions are a time that you "devote" (dedicate or set aside) to spending with God, often in Bible reading and prayer. Many people use booklets, other publications, or websites to help them with this devotional time; devotions often include a verse or passage from the Bible, reflections on the meaning/a way to connect it with our lives, and a prayer. You can find devotional books for a certain theme or topic, season, or book of the Bible; many are meant to be read in a month, while others can be used for a whole year. They are an easy way to encourage you to spend some time each day with God in learning and prayer.
