EVENT PLATFORM
EVENT PLATFORM
An email was sent to all registered attendees during the morning (UK / Ireland time) on Friday 27 August with instructions on how to log in to the conference platform. If you have not received the email by noon (UK / Ireland time) please check your junk / spam email folder. If you still cannot find your login email, please contact the FPC2021 conference team. We also suggest you log on to the platform well before the timetabled event – that way if you were to experience technical problems, we can sort them in advance. To encourage you to log on to the platform early, we will be releasing a series of video interviews with some of our keynotes during build-up week (see the timetable)… we hope you enjoy these interviews in anticipation of the main event!
Using the Event Platform
Overview
The event platform decommissioned 13/09/2021.
Onboarding
All users will be emailed an invitation to join the conference website on Friday 27 August 2021 before 12 noon (UK/Ireland time).
The invitation link is personalised and cannot be shared.
The email will be sent from 'British Society for Phenomenology' (contact@britishphenomenology.org.uk) and the subject will be “You’re invited to join FPC2021 Online!”
In the email there will be a call to action button saying “Join the discussion!”
On pressing the button, users will be sent to a sign up form where they need to pick a username and password. Username chosen should be delegate’s real name.
Users will then be sent to the site home page (categories page)
Topics and Categories
There will be two tabs: topics and categories.
Topics shows a list of all discussion threads. There is one discussion thread for each paper. On clicking a thread, the user will be taken to the discussion.
Categories shows a tree view following the time table. There will be one category for each panel. On clicking a category, the user will be presented with all the threads for that panel that have already been published.
Announcements Category
The topmost category will be announcements, for general messages coming from the conference team
Keynote Category
Keynote zoom events will be posted in the keynote category. This will be displayed in the second position, under announcements. When the recordings are released, they will be released here too.
Viewing speaker presentations and discussions
When the thread for a paper appears, there will be a link to the video which will open in a separate tab / new window. There will also be a link to an associated file with the written version of the paper. If there is no link, then the presenter has supplied us with captions for the video, which will appear as it is played.
Users will be able to discuss by clicking into the “write a reply” text box at the bottom of the screen, writing the reply, and pressing post. This won’t disrupt viewing, but the user will have to press refresh in order to see new comments by other delegates
Notifications and Profile pictures
If a user wants to add a profile picture, they can do this by clicking their initials in the top right, and then clicking “edit profile”
Users can manage email and push notifications by clicking their initials or profile picture in the top right, and then clicking settings.
