Note: This basic guide is geared towards new and returning players. In this basic guide, we'll see how to select and attack targets.
Classic Client
Click on 'OPTIONS' in the paperdoll, and in the menu that appears, click on the 'Macro Options' section (a rotated arrow).
In the ‘Macro Options’ section, click on ‘ADD’, look in the ‘Actions’ box for an action called ‘SelectNearest’ (You have to press the button), select ‘Hostile’ and assign a key in the ‘Keystroke’ box.
This will allow us to select nearby hostile targets by pressing a key. In the example shown, we see that the F3 key selects nearby hostile targets.
Now we will create another macro to attack that target.
Click on ‘ADD’ and look in the ‘Actions’ box for an action called ‘AttackSelectedTarget’ and assign it a key in the ‘Keystroke’ box.
With these two macros, we can already fight with keys, but we can create two additional macros to switch targets. This is very useful when we're surrounded by many targets and want to select a specific one.
Click 'ADD' and look in the 'Actions' box for an action called 'SelectNext'. Select 'Hostile' and assign a key in the 'Keystroke' box.
And we'll add another one. Look in the 'Actions' box for an action called 'SelectPrevious', select 'Hostile', and assign a key in the 'Keystroke' box.
When finished, click the green 'OKAY' button.
This will allow you to switch between nearby, next, and previous hostile targets.
In the following example, you can see how a target health bar is generated when you select a target (You can drag the bar to place it wherever you want), and how bars appear marking the target.
In addition, we'll create two combat macros for the weapon's special moves.
We'll repeat the previous process, but in 'Actions' we'll look for an action called 'PrimaryAbility' and assign it a key.
We'll do the same process, creating a new action called 'SecondaryAbility' and assigning it a key.
This will allow us to activate or deactivate special moves.
To see if we've enabled a special move for the next hit, we can draw two icons indicating whether it's active or not.
In this example, we see the weapon's special moves (the icons change depending on the weapon type) and when they are active or deactivated.
To bring out the icon, we click on the 'Dagger' that is to the right of our paperdoll's backpack and in the special moves book, we drag the icons of the first and second ability wherever we want.
Enhanced Client
We click on ‘Actions’ (on the bottom bar of the screen), we click on the section title and we go to the ‘Targeting’ section.
We drag the icons for ‘Target Nearest Enemy’, ‘Target Next Enemy’ and ‘Target Previous Enemy’ to the hotbar.
We click on the section title and go to the ‘Combat’ section and drag the ‘Attack Current Target’ icon to the hotbar.
If there is no key assigned by default, we can assign a key by right-clicking on the icon and selecting 'Assign Hotkey'.
Now we add the first and second abilities. To do this, we click on the 'Character Abilities' icon on our paperdoll and a book will open. From that book, we drag the first and second ability icons to the hotbar and assign a key to them if they don't already have one.
Select a target and attack in a single macro
This macro is one of the most important because when surrounded by many enemies, running a single macro that can select a nearby enemy, attack it, and execute a special move is much faster and more useful than running multiple macros to select a target, attack it, and execute a special move.
Select a nearby enemy and attack them
Select a nearby enemy, attack them, and execute a special weapon move.
In the Classic Client example, the first action isn't shown, but the first action is 'SelectNearest' and 'Hostile'.
The Enhanced Client example used the first special move, so if you want another macro with the second special move, add another macro with the second one.
