Starting spring 2026, I got asked to be apart of a wonderful project that works on building and conserving important areas for sea turtles. I am currently working as a research assistant for Dr. Sara Maxwell.
My job as a research assistant is to collect data through literature reviews starting in the mediteranean sea and importing valuable information into a master database. By doing this, we will be able to protect not only nesting areas for sea turtles but also their migration routes and foraging grounds.

During the spring quarter of 2026, I got the honor of being a part of the Friday Harbor Labs Spring Marine Science program. During this program, I took three classes: Marine Mammals of the Salish Sea, Novel Marine Ecosystems, and Portfolio in Marine Science.
This program provided me with numerous resources and helped me gain useful skills. I was able to network with a lot of scientists from all over the US. I gained knowledge about fieldwork.
I got to learn what it is like to get field experience:
Eelgrass restoration
Clam-digging surveys
Crab trapping experiments
Learning about marine mammals
Community outreach events
Research Brochure
Commentary
Me behind the UW Friday Harbor Labs sign
Crab outreach event
Marine mammals class at Lime Kiln State Park
Purple varnish clam digging - outreach event
Snorkeling during eelgrass restoration project
Lummi Sea Pond - learning about European Green Crabs
Putting together a gray whale skeleton
Rowing
Whale watching from shore
Albino Bristlenose Plecostomus
Since winter, 2025, I have worked as an aquarist for the fish store Moonlight Aquatics!
I maintain aquarium fish stock by caring for different fish species from around the world. I personally get the chance to learn in-depth details about each freshwater fish species, along with snails, crabs, and shrimp!
I also gain a lot of customer service knowledge by advising customers on aquarium supply purchases and proper fish care, specialized for each fish species.
It is an incredible opportunity to be able to volunteer for The Whale Museam and their stranding response program. As a volunteer, i am someone who is able to do outreach events, informing people on boating regulations around whales and other marine mammals, talking about what is the proper way to deal with strandings, and am someone who can help on marine mammal report calls. assisting with strandings, necropsies, watching, etc.
