The Egel project consists of about 50 elementary examples of hardware control with noForth on the MSP430. In each example you find a file with forth code, documentation and links to more information on the internet.
There are at least 2 robots described in this work, and many useful ideas how to interface sensors to Forth hardware.
wat is USHI? Ushi is a project from the dutch FIGforth group in 2003.
The goals Learning the programming language (Byte)Forth in a playful way.
Learning to control an (intelligent) robot.
Play games alone or in competition.
Tinkering with hardware and software.
As a nice starter kit for AVR and/or 8051. The only drawback is that the documentation is written in Dutch. It was a complete kit, with all hardware and software, with the corresponding seport from the FIG Group. Willem Ouwerkerk made most of this project, I joined FIG when the project was almost finished. And joined the working group Ushi and was busy with the latest hardware tests and changes. This gave me the chance to play with forth and since I already knew the 8051 assembly, the entry was easier. This was a fun beginners project. The examples of the 8052 hedgehog project also matched well. For those who had problems with the hardware I was available at the FIG meeting. Willem for the software of course and the others who knew Forth and who worked on this project.I learned a lot from Willem, the father of Byteforth. I learned a lot from Willem, the father of Byteforth in our weekly meeting. I hope you have as much fun with forth as I had with USHI.
