Northbound on I-95: Northbound on I-95 Take Exit 83 (Downtown New London). Go straight at light onto Huntington Street. Take right onto Jay Street. Go straight onto Truman Street, then left onto Blinman Street. Follow Blinman Street to Howard Street and go straight onto Howard Street. Then make left onto Walbach Street and right onto East Street. Go under the railroad overpass and follow to park entrance. Park entrance is on the left.
Southbound on I-95: Take Exit 84S (Downtown New London). Merge onto Eugene O’Neill Drive. Follow Eugene O’Neill Drive and take left onto Tilley Street. Make right onto Bank Street and then left onto Howard Street. Follow Howard Street and make left onto Walbach Street, then right onto East Street. Go under the railroad overpass and follow to park entrance. Park entrance is on the left.
The Fort is closed between Labor Day and Memorial Day Weekends.
Seasonal Operating Hours:
Beginning Memorial Day Weekend until late June, the Fort is open weekends only. Beginning late June, through Labor Day Weekend, the Fort is open Wednesday through Sunday. Operating hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The buildings will close on Columbus Day (Indigenous Peoples Day) for the season, but the park grounds remain open every day of the week throughout the year until sunset.
The Center contains 3-D models, extensive graphics and text panels. This one of a kind center depicts over 225 years of military history and technological advances from the Revolutionary War to the Cold War. Some of the main themes of the Visitor Center are the September 6, 1781 attack by the British under the command of Benedict Arnold, the U-boat menace during World War II, and the anti-submarine efforts during the Cold War.
The Center is closed between Labor Day and Memorial Day Weekend.
Beginning Memorial Day Weekend through late June, the Visitor Center is open weekends only. From Late June through Labor Day Weekend, the Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for self-guided tours.
The last ticket for entry is issued at 4:00 p.m.
Visitor Center Museum is the Fort's showcase representative of a professionally curated history museum.

There are no fees for parking or visiting the park grounds. A per person charge applies for the Visitor Center exhibit area.
Park grounds are open year round. Fort Trumbull State Park does not accept credit cards.

Age 5 and under: free
School groups wishing to visit the Fort Trumbull Visitor Center as part of a class activity may do so year round by appointment. Arrangements for class groups can be made by calling the park at (860) 444-7591.
During the season, the Gift Shop is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Noon until 4 PM.
The Friends of Fort Trumbull gift shop is filled with Souvenirs, mementos, and gifts for both children and adults.
The shop is open from Noon to 4:00 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and on days when the fort hosts a special event.
The Heritage Passport allows the bearer to gain admittance to three facilities (Dinosaur, Fort Trumbull and Gillette Castle State Parks) for unlimited visitation until the end of the calendar year in which it was purchased. The Heritage Passport cost is $67.00 and will allow a family (2 adults and up to 4 children) unlimited admittance to these three facilities. The Heritage Passport can be purchased at any one of these three facilities.
Your Connecticut registered vehicle is your Passport to Connecticut State Parks and Forests!
All visitors arriving in Connecticut-registered vehicles can park free of charge at all CT State Parks and Forests year-round.

Become part of the phenomenal transformation that has taken place at Fort Trumbull. The State of Connecticut has invested $25 Million, to create a wonderful tribute in recognition of the tremendous historical value to our country that has accrued since 1778, on the west bank of the Thames River.
However, as Friends of Fort Trumbull State Park, we must take advantage of this momentous starting point. The Friends intend to assist in the preservation, protection and interpretation of this historically important site.
Functions of the organization:
· Serve as an advocate for the park
· Increase public awareness
· Plan and solicit activities/events
· Maintain the Fort Trumbull Archives
· Leave a legacy of the enormous role that was played here in our nation’s defense
· Operate the Gift Shop
· Raise funds that will be used to further enhance the Fort Trumbull experience
Your membership fees will be used to create a spirit of community within one of the finest State Parks in Connecticut. For example, Friends will organize activities and sponsor speakers on historical subjects of regional importance.
The State Department of Environmental Protection maintains, provides tours, and does the general work of administering the park. The State does not operate the Gift Shop, maintain the extensive archives or provide those extra ingredients that enrich the Fort Trumbull State Park experience.

Spectacular fishing opportunities abound with a one-of-a-kind fishing pier boasting over 500' of shore-based access to the major game fish of Long Island Sound. Saltwater anglers will find a unique combination of sport fish including striped bass, bluefish, weakfish and tautog as they feed on the variety of bait fish found at the mouth of the Thames River. In addition to 24-hour access, the pier offers bright lighting and individual pole holders for angler comfort; year-round restrooms and fresh running water. The Conference Center’s spacious atrium welcomes visitors upon their arrival and directs them to meeting areas. The Conference room accommodates 60 people comfortably while the smaller, 30 person Classroom facilitates round table discussions. Handicapped accessible and climate controlled, The Center is fully equipped with state of the art audiovisual equipment, conference call and computer capabilities. Comfortable tables and chairs accommodate any conference, seminar or gathering. A central kitchenette with serving stations provides easy accessibility with luncheons or refreshments.
The Conference Center is available for rent from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Columbus Day to Memorial Day and weekly from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. The Center is not available on state and national holidays.
All the meetings, encampments, and other events we'll host throughout the season...and beyond...are wonderfully interactive ways in which to truly experience a taste of the "Living History" that is such a fundamental part of this area's rich legacy.
