FCCLT was organized by neighbors in Cleveland Heights, with the first pilot project to be the transfer of a property on Compton Road into the CLT. For this reason, we are focusing on community outreach in this neighbhorhood as a first step, with plans to expand to other parts of Cleveland Heights and surrounding communities.
In our first community meeting in 2024, we enjoyed food, music and dance and engaged community members in a discussion about creative ways to use a vacant lot in Cleveland Heights. Suggestions from neighbors included a community garden, meeting space and a play area for kids.
In Spring 2025, we hosted a panel discussion at the Heights Library to introduce the concept of a CLT to community members, answer questions and receive community input.
Panelists included Josiah Quarles of (Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless / FCCLT Board Member), Marge Misak (CLT consultant), Dennis Keating (professor emeritus, Levin School of Urban Affairs) and Hope Paxson (Vice President of Programs and Housing for COCIC, the Franklin County Land Bank).
