Over 30 years experience in the aquaculture sector centered around fostering innovation through consultancy, research, teaching and international cooperation. Much of this was as Manager of "Stirling Aquaculture" the consultancy arm of the Institute of Aquaculture at the University of Stirling.
Consultancy
Over 25 years experience working on projects for government, non-government and commercial organisations involving aquaculture sector research and support for policy or strategy decisions. These include sector, opportunity, market and technical studies, due diligence and risk appraisals.

Cooperation Projects
Involvement in more than 15 EU-funded collaboration projects, some as coordinator or workpackage leader. These broadly focused on fostering innovation in the aquaculture sector, involving partners from most European counties and in some cases also Asian countries. Areas of activity included education & training, scientific research and industrial innovation.
Teaching
Director of MSc programmes at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling between 2016 and 2020; Responsible for the content and teaching on several MSc modules and supervision of over 25 MSc thesis. Short courses have also been given in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. These have involved active engagement with online and blended learning,
