The mission

The Laboratory aims to:

1. The development and use of advanced models, methodologies, applications for conducting fundamental and applied research on the Laboratory's fields of study, aiming at the development of new knowledge and the acquisition of expertise, both at a theoretical and an experimental-applied level.

2. The contribution to the creation of new modern and attractive first and second cycle study programs of the Department of Economic and Regional Development in which it is part of, as well as the upgrade of existing ones, on issues that fall within the scope of the Laboratory's activities, as specified in article 1 of the Regulation context of the Laboratory's cognitive subjects.

3. Supporting postdoctoral research in the Laboratory's areas of activity.

4. Cooperation, following a decision of the competent body of the University, with Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) of Greece, recognized foreign Institutions, research and technological bodies of Greece and abroad, provided that their scientific objectives coincide or are related to those of the University Laboratory.

5. The organization of scientific lectures, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events and the invitation to them of recognized Greek and foreign scientists, as well as the production of publications and editions.

6. Securing resources and sources of funding to strengthen research on the subjects of the Laboratory.

7. The provision of scientific and specialized advisory work to third parties, natural or legal persons, in particular through opinions and studies.

8. The provision of specialized services to third-party natural or legal persons, in accordance with the applicable legislation and the purpose of the AEI, and in particular to public sector bodies, as defined in accordance with paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 14 of Law 4270/2014 (Government Gazette A’ 143).

9. The undertaking and preparation of research and development projects/programs, the financial management of which is undertaken by the Special Account for Research Funds of the AEI, as well as the organization and provision of training programs through the Center for Training and Lifelong Learning of the AEI on the subjects of the Laboratory.

10. Undertaking and conducting industrial research, within the framework of a cooperation agreement with domestic or foreign businesses or industries, as well as any other activity determined by the Internal Regulations of the University Laboratory, as long as it promotes teaching, science and research in its subjects and is in accordance with the aims, mission of the AEI and the applicable legislation.
