Important UAV Regulations to Keep in Mind

  • UAVs are regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Part 107. All UAVs must be registered with the FAA and only those who have received their Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA may operate drones.

  • UAVs can only be flown 400 feet above the ground, or 400 feet above buildings.

  • UAVs are prohibited to fly over people who are not involved in operating the drone.

  • UAVs can only be operated during the day, within 30 minutes of sunset and sunrise.

  • UAVs cannot be flown in certain airspace areas, such as near airports. An easy way to check for airspace restrictions is through the B4UFLY app. A desktop version is also available here.
