Comprising young musicians from various grade levels, the concert band rehearses diligently to master a diverse repertoire of classical, contemporary, and popular music. Focus is not only on technical proficiency but also fostering a deep appreciation for musical expression and ensemble dynamics. Whether performing at school events, local concerts, or competitions, the concert band showcases our students' passion and dedication to creating harmonious and memorable musical experiences for our community and beyond. 

The FHS Orchestra is an instrumental ensemble for both experienced string players and those eager to learn. The group emphasizes musicality, technical skill, and a diverse repertoire ranging from traditional orchestral pieces to modern compositions. The FHS Orchestra performs on campus, in seasonal concerts, and participates in the Orchestral festival circuit. 

The FHS Marching Band is a dynamic, one-semester ensemble that supports our school's athletics and events while also competing in parade and field competitions. Our focus is on musical excellence, technical precision, and energetic performances. 

2024 Production: Phantom of the Opera

The Color Guard blends dance with the use of equipment like flags, rifles, and sabres to create stunning musical performances. In the fall, Foothill’s Color Guard competes alongside the marching band. During the spring semester, the Winter Guard competes in the WGASC circuit, showcasing their talents at multiple competitions, including Championships. 

The Jazz Band is an extra-curricular ensemble that focuses on mastering the language of jazz music. Emphasizing style, repertoire diversity, improvisation, and musical creativity, the ensemble offers a dynamic experience for students. With flexible instrumentation accommodating various talents, the Jazz Band strives for a high standard of musical performance and artistic expression. 

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of chamber ensembles. Chamber Ensembles are comprised of very few musicians who work together to prepare and perform high level chamber repertoire at the Instrumental Music Program's concerts.
