Each potential dancer is required to bring the following items to the FIRST day of clinics. All items MUST be submitted in order for the potential dancer to participate. If ANY paperwork is missing, the potential dancer may sit and observe clinics, but physical participation is NOT allowed.
Dance Team Application (completed first day of clinics)
Updated physical will be required if the potential dancer makes the team
Potential dancers will participate in 4 days of clinics and tryouts in the Dance Room. {Please plan to meet in Coach Samson's Room (511) at 2:30pm.} During this time, dancers will learn the school fight song, 2 selections of choreography (pom, jazz or hip hop), perform progressions and technical skills across the floor and go through an interview with Coach Samson.
Potential dancers should be dressed, stretched and ready to go every day by 2:40pm. The following dress code should be met during the course of clinics:
Leotard or fitted tank (with sports bra, no spaghetti straps/no logos) - midriff must NOT show while in a standing position
Leggings
Appropriate soft-soled shoes (jazz shoes or tennis shoes)
Hair needs to be secured off the neck and face (bun or ponytail recommended - if ponytail is longer than shoulders, hair must be in a bun)
For tryouts, potential dancers should be dressed, stretched and ready to go by 3pm. Dancers should wear only black attire (following the guidelines listed above). Potential dancers should wear their hair in a bun and also wear performance make-up. This will be discussed in greater detail during clinics.
During tryouts, potential dancers will be given a number and perform (in groups of 3 or 4) the fight song and the selections of choreography learned throughout the week. Dancers are evaluated individually based on memory, technique, precision and showmanship using total points. Potential dancers will be expected to perform certain technical skills within a dance, as well as, in center.
At the conclusion of tryouts, a roster of the 2025 - 2026 dance team members will be posted on the dance team Instagram by 9pm. Dancers will also receive an email from Coach Samson regarding next steps for the upcoming season. Please be mindful that everyone who auditions may not make the team (even if they have previous dance team experience).

Don't wish for it; work for it
