New Native Speaker Programme for early 2021
Jan. 2021
Dear parents,
First of all, we would like to thank you for your continued support since the start of the new school year. The Förderkreis Board members have continued to meet online, monitoring the situation together with the school management and our team of native speakers. Whilst our native speakers have not been able to be at school since the beginning of the ‘Lockdown Light’ in November, the team has been working hard on the relaunch of our library as well as our new online offering.
With the start of the new year, we have decided to launch two new working schedules for our Native Speaker programme, starting Monday 11th January. The new schedules have been designed to mirror the Corona Stufenplan, meaning that our team of Native Speakers will be able to operate a hybrid schedule (a mix of in-class support, online clubs and one-on-one sessions) when the school finds itself on stage ‘yellow’, and a fully online schedule when the school is either on stage ‘orange’ or ‘red’. Under stage ‘green’ we will operate our usual onsite schedule.
As of Monday 11th January, all students will enjoy access to afternoon virtual clubs as well as the possibility to sign up for one-on-one sessions with one of our native speakers. We really hope our new programme offers something for every kid, and supports our parents by offering a range of fun and educational activities for learning and using the English language from the comfort of your own homes.
You can find the full clubs schedule here. All clubs and one-on-one sessions will have a duration of 30 minutes and will be offered Monday to Friday between 2 and 6 p.m. via the online platform Jitsi, which we successfully trialled during the summer.
If you’d like your child to take part in one or more of the clubs and/or sessions, all you have to do is:
Send an e-mail to NativeClubs@dickens-foerderkreis.org letting us know that you and your child agree to participate in the online clubs and one-on-one sessions. Please note that participation is of course voluntary for your child.
Once your e-mail consent is received, a password will be sent to the same e-mail address. This password will be valid for all clubs and potential one-on-one sessions so keep it both safe and handy 😉
On the day and time of the club/session that your child wants to attend, go to https://meet.jit.si/CDGSnativeClub (the same link is also valid for all clubs/one-on-one sessions), enter the password, and hopefully your child will have fun!
On behalf of the Board and our native speakers, we would like to wish you and your loved a great start in the new year, and we look forward to seeing you and your children soon, whether online or at the school grounds!
