Scott had this to say about the announcement on the FNAF 4 Steam Game.

“Even though the game received an 87 percent ‘Very Positive' rating, I was dissatisfied with the feedback and ratings it received. I'll keep working on FNaF World Steam and polishing it.

For the game, I'm currently working on a completely 3D overworld. I'll replace the demo on Fnafworldgame.us with the complete game when I'm ready to upgrade the game. The game will always be free from here on out.”

In addition to the promised enhancements and improvements, he encouraged anyone who had purchased it to return it, no matter how much they had enjoyed it. Even by the standards of friendly indie developers, this is a surprisingly drastic step. Even with Cawthon's legendary speed of growth, squandering all that time and money isn't cheap or simple. Even, it's a fantastic gift to a player base that was clearly disappointed, if not outright angry, with the previous instalment.

Update 22 January 2016: Scott Cawthon, the franchise's developer, claims he launched the game too soon and that it lacks functionality.

I'm guessing the extra month of development time was needed. Scott Cawthon, the developer of FNAF World, apologized for launching the game too soon and without key features in a post on the FNAF World Steam website. He'll be focusing on stuff like character stat pages and being able to see what abilities do for the next few weeks, probably until February 19th at the earliest.

Cawthon clarified his experience of launching games quickly and why it went wrong this time, calling the features "any good RPG would have."

“You know, ever since FNaF 1, I've been accused of rushing my games, but I've never felt like I've published a game too early... until now. There are several features that this game should have had prior to its release, features that I was told about but did not implement. I was so focused on showing off the items that were done that I forgot about the things that weren't.”

He apologizes once more to his group and vows to introduce these features as soon as possible. Surprisingly, considering his belief in the need for a public apology, there hasn't been the deluge of negative feedback I had expected. As with everything famous and off-kilter, FNaF has its share of haters, but fans of the show seemed to be content with it. The Steam forums are a wasteland that I won't delve into too deeply, but neither they nor Reddit seem to be especially enraged. The mea culpa is appreciated, but it may not have been appropriate.

Original Story: 21 January 2016:Isn't this a pleasant surprise? FNaF World, a fantasy role-playing game based on the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, has been released on FNaF World Steam ahead of its February 19 release date.

FNaF World, the final instalment in the Five Nights at Freddy's collection, is now available. To be clear, this is not Five Nights at Freddy's 5, as creator Scott Cawthon has repeatedly said, but rather a JRPG-style spin-off starring Freddy Fazbear and the rest of the series' cast. This means 40 different characters, a variety of endings, and a variety of challenges.

Last week, FNaF World was set to release on Steam on February 19, but Cawthon took to the Steam Community forum for the last main series entry to revise the release date in an usually tongue-in-cheek manner.

When asked if the proposed release date was wrong, Cawthon responded two minutes later, saying, "I won't make it to February 19th." Make sure you have time off this weekend.

The weekend has arrived early for FNaF, which is now available on Steam for $9.99/£6.99.

Here's a brief rundown of what FNaF World is all about, according to its Steam page. It reads, "Take command of Freddy and the gang as they embark on a journey in the universe beneath worlds." “A universe that represents the ‘flipside's' attitudes and deeds, where things have begun to become twisted and shattered.

“Lead the team deeper into this digital universe to discover the origins of these glitches and monsters, and return it to its original state as a safe haven.”
