Electronic logbooks are the way of the future. While I will personally still use a hard copy logbook, I used to keep an excel spreadsheet. However I came across Wader in 2022 and have loved the interface and ease of use. Having helped test and find bugs, I can safely say I am highly impressed with the app. Best part it is completely free and they can upload your previous flights via an excel spreadsheet.
While the industry moves towards electronic logbooks, I like to keep a paperback copy of my hours as well, also allowing easier submittal of hours, signatures and proof to the CAA.
After countless hours searching this is the best one I could find, that matched the Wader logbook, making it easier to keep track and cross reference. While meeting the EASA requirements.

Electronic Flight Bags are the way of the future. There are many out there, however some are better than others.
From my experience, I have found the following three to be the best and one new one I am trying and testting. However they do cost for a yearly subscriptions, my suggestion is to use the month trial you get when you plan to complete the IFR portion.
The Boeing Company's EFB, easy to use, huge amounts of detail and information can be accessed and stored. The ability to connect a Jeppesen charts subscription
Garmin's EFB. One of the best I have found. Cheaper than Foreflight but does not lack details and ability. Has its own autorouter and eurocontrol validation process for flight routes, which once chosen will create the navigation logs, fuel plan and mass and balance calculations.
I used Garmin Pilot for my MEIR tests and training.
Sky Demon is a great app for VFR planning and flight. I know a lot of instructors in the UK use it for flight tracking and teaching the students.
My testing examiner used it to track my flight and confirm I was remaining on route for the CPL test.
A newer app I am busy testing and reviewing, they do focus more on the inflight usage and less on the planning.
